Account Deletion
Last updated: August 14, 2026
Deleting your account is permanent after a short safety window. Here's exactly how it works, what disappears, and how to change your mind.
Delete your account in the app
- Open Okanize and go to Settings.
- Scroll to Delete Account and tap it.
- Read the summary, then confirm. That’s it. The request is immediate.
You’ll be signed out on this device right away. Cancelling a subscription is separate: deleting your account does not cancel an active Apple subscription, so cancel that first via iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
The 30-day recovery window
Deleted accounts enter a 30-day grace period. During those 30 days your cloud data is preserved but inactive, and you can recover everything by simply signing back in with the same method. The app will offer to restore the account. After 30 days, deletion runs automatically and is irreversible.
What deletion removes
- Your profile: name, email, and photo.
- Personal transactions, budgets, savings goals, memos, and custom categories.
- Receipt images stored in your private cloud storage.
- Shared spaces you own, and your membership in other people’s spaces.
- Push notification tokens and device links.
- Your sign-in identity from our systems.
In shared spaces belonging to others, expenses and settlements you were part of may remain visible to those members as anonymized history, so their records stay accurate. Your name and photo are removed.
What we may need to retain
A minimal record may be kept where the law or the platform requires it: for example, Apple’s own purchase records (held by Apple, not us), fraud-prevention logs, or data needed to resolve an open support or feedback thread. Anything retained is kept only as long as necessary, then erased. We never retain data for advertising or use it to train AI models.
Other privacy choices
- Access or correct your data directly in the app (profile, transactions, settings).
- Export transactions to CSV from the app before deleting, if you want a personal archive.
- Withdraw consent for camera or notifications in iOS Settings at any time.
Can’t access the app?
If you no longer have the app or can’t sign in, email [email protected] with the subject “Account deletion” from the address tied to your account. We’ll verify it’s you and process the request, including for access, correction, or consent questions.
